My daughter first set

My daughter is still very young and she still plays (a lot) with Duplo. But recently she received her first non DUPLO LEGO. The set was LEGO 41308 Stephanie’s Friendship Cakes.

Of course she loved it. For 3 reasons:

  • First she loves LEGO
  • Second she loves the LEGO Friends Theme
  • Third the loves to help her mother making cakes and now she has its own bakery

Can wait until she’s old enough to help be build some Star Wars UCs that I have stored.

What was your first LEGO set?

Back in 1987, a little 4 years old received his first LEGO. Because he was a Sci-Fi fan, their parents gave him a LEGO Classic Space set, the 6872 Xenon X-Craft. This set was release in 1985 and is part of the extensive collection of Classic Space sets that LEGO released in the 80’s. This yellow space minifigure appeared in 27 different sets!

I remember almost every detail of this set, because I played a lot with it (and when I say a lot, it’s a lot). My minifigure is faded and with a lot of teeth marks. Most of the parts are faded, worn out, broken or also with tooth marks (my tool to separate LEGO bricks at the time). Yes, you can say I took really good care of my LEGO sets back in the day.

This trip down the memory lane made me wish to have this set again. Mint or at least near in good condition. Probably going to look for it on Bricklink or ebay and find a nice deal just to own it again.

And you, what was your first LEGO set? Do you still have it? Share it with us!

I never get tired of seeing LEGO being made

That’s right. Just found an old movie on Youtube of the program How It’s Made. This Episode showed, in resume, the process behind the creation of the LEGO brick and minifigure.

The Brick Burguers

If you are a fan of LEGO and you like hamburgers you are lucky. “The Brick Burgers” is a LEGO themed restaurant that serves LEGO themed burgers. Yes, you read correctly. The burgers look like LEGO bricks and even have different colours. But not just the burgers. The store is also decorated with a lot of LEGO sets from City, to Marvel, DC, Lord of the Rings and even some MOCs.

They even have a challenge called Lord Business Challenge where you can win LEGO sets if you finish your meal in a certain amount of time. The less time you take, better the price will be.

And judging from the menu of the restaurant, this place is not afraid of breaking some laws. Or that, or they have a nice licensing deal with Disney. They have burgers like the Hulk Buster, Darth Burger or the Lord Business. Unfortunately the worst is not the name of the Burgers, is the use of the LEGO brand itself. But that is something for LEGO to Judge.

Details apart, the major downside of this restaurant is that it is based in Philippines. It’s a little bit far from most of us but if, by any chance, you live in the country or happen to go there on vacations, don’t hesitate and visit the restaurant that celebrates LEGO.

This next video gives you an idea of what to expect from the restaurant.

you can find their official facebook page here.

The Lego Den blog has a Gift for all its visitors.

On the left side of the blog a new content section was added called “LEGO Frame Backgrounds”. This section contains background images for all the Collectible minifigure series until the moment. These background images perfectly fit the IKEA RIBBA frames that a lot os us collectors use to display our collections. And all completely FREE.

These images are the same that I use on my personal RIBBA frames were I store my collectible minifigures.

Here is the quick link to the section: Lego RIBBA Frame Backgrounds

Enjoy this gift and Good Constructions.

Steam Punk Star Wars Figthers

In 2014 the site made a MOC context. In one of the rounds the theme was Starfighters and the flickr user markus19840420 just delivered a piece of art. A Steam Punk Millenium Falcon that is absolutely stunning.

For me that love star wars and steam punk themed MOCs, this is a really amazing piece of work.

Under the same theme, there is also a Tie Fighter that is also amazing:

LEGO December 2016 Calendar

LEGO released the December calendar and oh boy, there are some cool news.

The first gift is a colorable calendar from 2017. Is a nice gift but it is not LEGO. Is only good for the kids to spend a little time coloring. To get this calendar you have to spend $75 or more between 28 of November and the 11 of December.

The next in the list is the gingerbread man. Although is a cool figure, is a minifigure that everyone in the LEGO world knows, because is part of the collectible minifigures (series 11). LEGO could at least change some parts of the minifigure to make it unique, but no. As far as i can see, it’s an exact copy (without the cup). At least is good for the collectors that don’t have this minifigure.

You can get this minifigure from 12 to 18 of December if you spend $50 or more.

Finally, a sneak preview of 2017 sets. The new IP is Disney’s Moana, the new animation movie that will be released next month. The set seems to a friends set, with the two main characters: Moana e the demigod Maui. There is also a preview of the LEGO Batman Batcave and the Base of operations of DC superhero girls.

LEGO Disney's Moana

In the Europe the Christmas promotions were also revealed. The most interesting gift is the snow globe. Is an fabulous gift, maybe one of the best in years. This one i have to have. The other gifts are a toy soldier, a 24 in 1 present and the minifigure of a gingerbread man.

Of all the gifts, the Snowglobe is the best offer that LEGO is giving this Christmas.
